Thirsty For Blood... And Cars!
As well as trying to maintain an insatiable bloodthirsty appetite, it seems that the most famous Vampire family in the world, the Cullens, have an even more curious appetite to fulfill - an appetite for sleek and sexy cars; unaffordable to the average person but a walk in the (car)park for these not-so-average vampires.
If you've been hiding under a rock somewhere and for some reason are unaware of who exactly the Cullens are, let us take a moment to get you up-to-date. The Cullens are a fictional family of Vampires who were born from the mind of Stephenie Meyer into the wondrous world of the Twilight Saga; a collection of four books telling the love-story of an ordinary female teenager (Bella) and a not-so-average male vampire (Edward). Now female readers, you have been warned, it is more than easy to fall in love with Edward Cullen who has been deemed the title of 'Perfect Man' the world over, however it could be argued that part of the attraction is down to the wealth of amazing cars he and the rest of his family own.
In the first book/movie we learn that Edward is the owner of a silver Volvo S60 R, a speedy little sports car which makes him the envy of the school he attends where he meets Bella. Not bad for a 17 year old lad really, don't you think?
However, it gets better. Further on into the series, Edwards 'Occasion Car' is revealed - a car which he uses to transport Bella to and from the school prom, and wow, what an absolutely magnificent ride... the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, a stunning sleek sports car which has even been described as "Aston Martins most exhilarating sports car". Now, that's what we call arriving and leaving in style.
As well as all that, his family own other great cars of which most of us can only dream, including a Mercedes S55 AMG, a BMW M3 convertible and of course, who can forget Edwards sister Alice's little yellow Porsche. All the cars owned by the Cullens are worlds away from Bella's ride (and this is where the mood deflates slightly)... a 1953 Chevrolet Pick-up Truck. Definitely a ride with more character than class.
Nevertheless as they say, good things come to those that wait, and with the upcoming release of the first part of the final movie 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1' in UK cinemas on 18th November 2011, the viewing audience will see just how good things are about to get for Bella, car-wise. The reading audience already know, so we may aswell let you into the secret. Yes, Edward buys Bella the kind of car that we all probably dreamed about in our childhood and some of us probably still dream about today, as it's the kind of classic that never becomes outdated - a glorious red Ferrari F430... *SIGH*.
Make sure you go along to a theatre near you to catch Breaking Dawn when it hits cinema screens and keep an eye out for the latest car addition to the Cullen family. One thing is definitely sure... as much as his taste for blood is highly questionable; Edward Cullen's taste for cars is anything but.
